QPI member Dr Danni Holmes has published Wonders of the Quantum World: Uncovering the Secrets of our Universe, Life on Earth and the Future of Technology with Melbourne University Publishing.
Published on 11 August 2026, this book takes readers on a fascinating journey into the quantum world to discover just how differently nature behaves at the smallest scales. Despite their minute size, the behaviour of quantum particles has far-reaching and profound consequences on our Universe, life on Earth and future technologies.
A quantum physicist and educator, Danni is based in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW Sydney, where she lectures and researches how to build quantum computers. She is passionate about sharing her love for quantum physics far beyond the laboratory.
Danni recently discussed her book on 702 ABC Sydney. In the interview, she explored how quantum particles rebel against the classical laws of nature and how their behaviour has surprising consequences on our everyday lives and the future of technology, alongside fielding questions from curious listeners.
The legendary Dr Karl said 'Quantum is "tricky" - but this book got me closer to understanding this wondrous world'. Grab a copy to see for yourself!
