Associate Professor Henry Yang, based in UNSW Sydney's School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, develops silicon spin-qubit devices and the control techniques needed to operate them with high fidelity. His work draws together quantum engineering, semiconductor physics, quantum control and quantum instrumentation, with a focus on advancing the performance, control and scalability of quantum computing. Recent contributions include high-fidelity single- and two-qubit gates, operation of silicon quantum processors at elevated temperatures, and the performance and variability of industry-compatible spin-qubit devices.

This work supports QPI's efforts to improve qubit performance and build the technologies needed for useful, scalable quantum computers, contributing to the Centre's broader program to combine advances in high-performance qubits, resource-efficient logic and integrated architectures to address key barriers to practical quantum computing.
