Dr Danielle Holmes studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge before obtaining her PhD in Physics at the University of Melbourne. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer based in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW, Sydney.
Her research focuses on isotopic enrichment, high-spin donor nuclei and deterministic ion implantation to increase the quality and quantity of donor spin qubits in silicon. She lectures third-year undergraduate electrical engineering courses in quantum physics and microwave engineering. Danni is passionate about sharing her love for quantum physics and its power to revolutionise technology far beyond the laboratory.
She is the author of the popular science book 'Wonders of the Quantum World' and was the AIP Women in Physics Lecturer in 2025, for which she toured Australia delivering engaging talks on quantum physics to the public and school children.
