Dr Maria KieferovaDr Maria Kieferova

Dr Mária Kieferová designs quantum algorithms that use limited hardware more efficiently, with applications in simulation, machine learning and many-body physics. Her work investigates how quantum computers can represent, prepare and process complex quantum states more efficiently, with applications in chemistry, materials science and many-body physics.

At the University of Technology Sydney, Dr Kieferová is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science. In QPI, she will develop resource-efficient quantum algorithms and quantumáquantum machine-learning methods designed for the capabilities of emerging quantum processors. Her research will help identify useful applications for early fault-tolerant quantum computers while reducing the number of qubits and operations required to solve significant computational problems.

Dr Kieferová also contributes to quantum education and workforce development through teaching and research supervision in quantum computing. Her experience across theoretical algorithm design and large-scale experimental quantum-processor collaborations will help connect QPI's hardware developments with practical computational applications.
