Professor Nicolas Menicucci is an internationally recognised leader in continuous-variable quantum computing and one of the pioneers of scalable optical quantum computing. His research focuses on the theoretical foundations that will enable useful quantum computers, with internationally recognised contributions to quantum error correction, photonic quantum computing and distributed quantum systems.
At RMIT University, Professor Menicucci leads the QuRMIT Theory Lab and serves as Deputy Director of the RMIT Applied Quantum Technologies (RAQT) Centre. As an ARC Future Fellow and QPI Synergy Lead for Research Pillars 2 and 3, he brings together researchers across quantum theory and experiment to accelerate advances in scalable quantum technologies.
Beyond his research, Professor Menicucci is an active leader in Australia's quantum community. He chairs the Australian Institute of Physics' Quantum Science and Technology Topical Group, leads Australia's coordination of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, and is committed to mentoring the next generation of quantum researchers.
