Professor Tom Stace studies how noise, control limits and device physics shape the practical performance of quantum technologies. His work investigates how noise, control limitations and physical device characteristics affect the operation of quantum computers and other quantum systems.

At the University of Queensland, Professor Stace develops theoretical approaches to quantum error correction, quantum control and device modelling. As part of QPI, he will contribute to efficient real-time decoders, fault-tolerant quantum architectures and compilation methods that make better use of limited hardware and connectivity. His research will help translate improvements in physical qubits and quantum interconnects into practical reductions in the resources needed for reliable computation.

Professor Stace is also a co-founder of Analog Quantum Circuits, reflecting his commitment to translating fundamental research into useful technology. Through QPI, he will help connect theoretical innovation, experimental requirements and commercial pathways for emerging quantum devices.
